Fashion Friday – J Moon

One thing I really liked from my previous blog and I want to re-introduce is fashion friday. Each Friday I highlight an inspiring fashion designer or something fashion related and preferably fair fashion. This time I wanted to share these designs with you. They are made by J Moon. Moon is a freshly launched based in London womenswear label.  Designer Jay Jinhee Moon graduated from London College of Fashion in 2014.  Jinhee was the one of twenty seven finalists chosen to present collection at the LCF 2014 BA Press show and was the winner of ‘The Best Directional Use of Colour & Textile Award’ at the show.  From this catwalk show, she featured in many press and selected the one of 200 emerging designers in Italian Vogue talents in 2014.  Jinhee finds fun in design realization of 2d drawing to 3d garment.  Trying new things to get inspiration from life style and particularly keen on artworks to apply to the unique aesthetical and interesting fashion design. She loves to make experimental garments with unusual mixture of texture, colour and shape. Playful, odd but new and interesting aesthetic is the unique signature of Jay Jinhee Moon’s design and the brand ‘J Moon’. […]

Fall Frenzy

What everyone experiences in January, shortly after New Year, the frenzy of turning a new leaf, I experience in September. For me this is THE time for new plans and new ideas and this last month has been booming with new things to the max. I started Trendacademy of course (love it!). And on top of that it’s just a busy time (not just in the book biz I’ve discovered) all around with fairs and meet-ups and exciting stuff. Tomorrow I’m attending this big lecture by trendwatchers David Shah and Christine Boland and coming weekend I’m going to the Strawberry Earth Fair. I’ve always had great respect for Mette te Velde who came up with the Strawberry Earth platform. I think she’s a green pioneer and I’m very much looking forward to the very first SEFair. It promises to bring the best in sustainable fashion, food, design and film. I can hardly wait!

Fashion Friday: Cotélac

High time to share something for Fashion Friday! When I was in France I discovered this beautiful shop with a brand called Cotélac. The fabrics were amazing, very high quality and the patterns were also stunning. It seemed like a typically French brand but with influences from Africa for instance. Sometimes they collaborate with a specific illustrator/artist like Marion Fayolle. And the best thing is they have an e-shop! These photos are from the lookbook summer//14. I just couldn’t bring myself to post photo’s from the new fall/winter collection since I want to desperately deny winter is coming…

~ Fashion Friday // Victoria Beckham SS14 ~

When starting my blog I never could have suspected blogging so much about fashion. I mean, I knew I liked fashion, but how much I actually love it became apparent through this blog. I think I love it so much because it represents the direct union between beauty and you (or your body). It makes you part of the artwork or vision in a way no other art form can. I love musing about beautiful dresses and fabrics. I love the idea of a woman that matches with my esthetic. I can be obsessed with women and their details in their clothing, accessories and nail polish! So I’ve decided to regularly post about fashion and since the weekend usually is the time to wear something out of the ordinary I want to inspire you on Friday. This Friday, the first Fashion Friday, I want to talk about Victoria Beckham because sometimes life just deals you an unexpected one. Who knew Victoria Beckham actually was destined to become a fashion designer? I think it’s her best endeavor yet! Besides maybe baring children (she does that quite satisfactorily too). It took her some time to come into her own as a fashion […]

Fashion: Dennis Diem AFW 14

I got an invitation to attend the show of Dorhout Mees during the Amsterdam Fashion Week. I’m a big fan of her work so it was a pleasure to go. I thought her collection was beautiful, but the main colors didn’t appeal to me as much. I did however like her nature theme and think her work always is beautifully organic. I also saw some shots of the AW14 collection Opium Dream by Dennis Diem. I really liked his ethereal collection very much so I chose to feature some photo’s on the blog. I love collections that really emphasize the feminine and I thought Dennis really was successful in doing exactly that. The flow and cut of his dresses is really magnificent! His dresses are dreamlike but have a touch of the dark side… Remember his name! {Photo’s copyright Ganbaroo}

Fashion: Sage & Ivy

I love the spring/summer collection 2013 by fashion brand Sage & Ivy, founded by Alexia van Engelen. The use of (different) materials and soft colors and patterns are amazing. I would love to own a few of her pieces but there are somewhat expensive. They are dreamlike don’t you think? {All photo’s via Ganbaroo PR}

Fashion: & other Stories #4 London

Granted I’m not aware of everything that happens in fashion, but I could not believe I missed the exciting news of H&M group starting a new store concept with the title & other Stories. So when my sister-in-law told me and emphasized their style was great and I would love it I was eager to find out and checked the website. I did love what I found! What luck then, I was to go to London where they have a store on Regent Street! & other Stories just fills the gap in style between H&M and their low prized casual day-to-day style and the minimalistic Scandinavian feel of COS. & other Stories just fits in perfectly, it’s classy, playful and colorful and lets you create your personal style from shoes to make-up, BAGS!!! and lingerie. Everything is of high quality but affordable, although more expensive than H&M.  It’s a definite must-see and the great news is they ship to Holland with low shipping costs (6 euro).

Shops to visit in my hometown: Trade Studio

O dear, it’s been way to long since I last did an interview! But luckily I have a really nice one for you now! As you may know it’s been almost a year since we moved to the cutest town in Holland and one of the clothing stores in particular stood out for me even before I moved here. It’s called Trade Studio and it has the most beautiful Scandinavian brands. I asked the owner Karen Staal some questions and she was nice enough to answer them for me and I’m really proud to have my Trade Studio closet photographed. You can check it out here. For those of you who are planning a visit to my dear city do make sure to visit! What kind of shop is Trade Studio?  Trade studio is a light boutique in Haarlem in the area HoutZuid. The basis of the collections lies with classics and timeless pieces, that are enhanced with a considerable amount of Scandinavian style. Many of our labels come from Denmark and surprise us again and again with their simple beauty. Next to that personal advice is key, we gladly search for a style that really represents the individual. How long […]

(Fair) Fashion: Suno NY

I discovered the brand SUNO in the January/ February issue of Frankie magazine. I just love their use of color, the loose beautiful silky fabrics and their feminine style. Behind the brand of SUNO lies an interesting and fair story: “SUNO is a New York based womenswear label founded in 2008 by Max Osterweis in collaboration with designer Erin Beatty. The collection was launched in Spring 2009 after post-election violence threatened to damage the economy and industry in Kenya, a long time second home to Osterweis. Using vintage Kenyan textiles that Osterweis had been collecting for years, they created their first small collection, produced predominantly in Kenya. Since its inception, SUNO has evolved its business to include production in Kenya, India, Peru and its home base of New York. Via a combination of traditional, local techniques and high-end tailoring, as well as an emphasis on fit and fabric, SUNO is able to offer a global, unique view of the luxury world in an accessible way. SUNO currently offers a jewelry collaboration with Pamela Love, as well as a capsule footwear collection with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, incorporating the unique prints and fabrics of the collection into each design to maintain the same optimistic, fresh, and slightly […]

Fashion: Lena Hoschek

Remember when I went to the Modefabriek? I was mostly inspired by MINT, but I did come across some brands I did not know yet. One of the stands that caught my eye in the section Refined+ was a very colorful one that seemed out of place because of its exotic and free spirited nature. The women’s clothes were all very beautiful, mostly dresses and skirts. I took a catalogue with me and was pleasantly surprised when I flipped through it back home. It had the most beautiful photo’s, of course with beautiful clothes, but the decor and feel of the campaign truly is fantastic. A lot of attention to detail went into it and as you may well know it’s all in the details. I wanted to share some of that beautiful catalogue with you, if you want to see it whole you can find it online here. The brand is Lena Hoscheck, an upmarket women fashion label from Austria. I suspect this catalogue will become a collectors-item. It’s really that great! {Because of the paper used for this catalogue – an off-white matt – any increase of ISO diminished sharpness and color. Since I’m not a professional photographer this […]
